How to use Forum Theatre as a tool for social change with communities

Join Cardboard Citizens for an interactive two day workshop, exploring the Art of Engagement.

This workshop covers the theory, practice and application of Forum Theatre, in encouraging social change within the community.

The workshop will introduce accessible Image Theatre techniques, developed and pioneered by Augusto Boal. The group will start to identify and explore issues of concern, with a focus around the challenges of engaging marginalised individuals and groups. Cardboard Citizens will share its own knowledge and experience of how best to engage and support participation within communities.

This two day training will also provide the opportunity for Arts and Social Sector professionals to come together ahead of Cardboard Citizens’ Bristol residency programme and Forum Theatre performances in Spring 2017.

Cardboard Citizens is a creative hub for excluded people, offering workshops, training, support and progression to grow confidence, community and skills. Cardboard Citizens tells stories that need to be told, through theatre performed on the stage, in the street, in hostels, centres and prisons.

This training is ideal for Arts and Social Sector practitioners who want to develop their practice to support working with disengaged groups.

Cardboard Citizens has been making life-changing theatre with and for homeless people and disengaged groups for 25 years. This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to develop skills around how to work with ALL within the community, creating a more socially minded practice.
